Just in case you missed it ...

Just about a month ago we had a small Opening party here at the shop. Good times. Props to Kelvin from Saik Productions who threw this together for us.

All Welcome, No Colours, No Patches.

Poster done by one of Sydney’s finest – Josh Roelink.

The 1st Annual Sydney Tattoo & Body Art Expo is coming up over three long and painful days next weekend. There’s apparently going to be over 150 local and international artists (USA, Japan, UK, Canada, Indo, France, Norway, Germany, and NZ) doing their thing. And with burlesque, tattoo contests, a bar, and no doubt a whole bunch of heavily-tatted white dudes playing guitars … this is an event you don’t wanna miss!

Of all the artist confirmed for the convention though, one name stood out by far. SABADO. The legendary Sabado Monster is a superstar in his home country of Japan, known for his work with colour and his massive back pieces. On top of that, he reps hard for Nagoya, where one third of the HALF*SLEEVE* crew calls home. Big up the 052! So if you get a chance, get out to the convention and make sure you check out Sabado tatting live (booth #8), you won’t regret it.

Here’s some of Sabado’s work below. More at his site LoveSabado.

As we kinda hinted at yesterday, we are now very proud to be the Sydney stockist for N.I.C.E Produce from Melbourne. For those of you not yet familiar with the dealings of the N.I.C.E crew, they kinda run the art scene down South – working with local talent Jagi, Meggs, Ghost Patrol etc. They’re also regularly responsible for some of the dopest art shows to hit our shores – One Thousand Can Show by Two last year and the must-see No Comply shows just to name a few – see previous post for details. Support the scene.

just an:other Denim Guide

According to the man himself, some of Ritchie’s (Another Inch) best blog work yet. Check it!

Ritchie’s Selvedge Denim Guide

If you’ve just about had it with seeing jeans with ridiculous pre-washes and dudes with a whole lot of shit written all over their arses, then this might be an interesting read for you. If you’ve already got a big-ass blue ring around your bathtub, then this post won’t be anything new to you but still give it a read – its always good to see someone get it right. Also make sure to check out Indigofan – another great blog by a denim freak.

Now for our tip – If anyone’s REALLY interested in denim, ame-kaji (the Japanese-born American Casual style) or top shelf proddy in general, make sure you get your hands on Free & Easy Magazine. Trust us, its what the real maniacs read. Only catch is though … it’s in Japanese. Oh Snap!

HALF*SLEEVE* will be stocking some selvedge later this year. Keep checking back for updates.
